General description	Recommended working concentration: 100µg/ml. An aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Inhibitor of protein biosynthesis that acts on the 30S ribosome, causing misreading of the genetic code. May cause renal damage and ototoxicity. An aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Inhibitor of protein biosynthesis that acts on the 70S ribosome, causing misreading of the genetic code. May cause renal damage and ototoxicity. Useful for the selection of kanamycin resistant plasmids in E. coli. Tested and found to be negative for cytotoxicity against HeLa cells.
